Helping Others
February 27, 2015. By Athena Rapinan My dad and I had a couple opportunities to volunteer at a shelter organization called Loaves and Fishes, located at Saint Maria Goretti Church, and fed homeless and families in need.
On the days I volunteered, I helped prepare the food, served fruits and bread, and mopped the floor after dinner. While I was serving meals, I observed three things:
- Food was not wasted.
- People said please and thank you.
- They also took extra food home for their families.
I also learned a few things while volunteering:
- It is good to help others.
- Appreciate what you have.
- Try to do good things.
When I was there, I also made some new friends, Vanessa and Sara, which I hope to see again sometimes soon. Volunteering was actually pretty fun, and I can not wait to do it again. You should try to volunteer too!
